A Note to Seniors and Senior Parents....
By now most of you have applied and been accepted your post-secondary school of choice. Now it is time to start applying for financial aid. Financial aid is money available from federal, state, university and private sources to help students and their families meet college costs. Financial aid will help pay for direct educational costs such as tuition, books and fees, as well as personal living expenses such as housing, food and transportation. Financial aid is designed to assist students with paying for the cost of attending college. Most SN students have been applying for local scholarships throughout the school year, and many have received school sponsored scholarships from the colleges they have chosen to attend. However, there may be much more money available to those who complete their FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). All students who plan on attending post-secondary training (including 2, 4 year collegs and tech schools) should submit a FAFSA to determine if they are eligible for several grant and loan opportunities offered by the federal government.
The quickest and easiest way to fill complete the FAFSA is to take the following documents to the financial aid department of the school you are planning to attend, and they will help you complete the FAFSA and make sure it is done correctly. Alternative methods would include completing the FAFSA on your own, or attending a free FAFSA Frenzy Event. Click below for more info.
